I have played for a long time, but reached a plateau when it comes to expressing myself with leads. At just over a month in, I have transformed my playing in learning how to speak in phrases, and having something to say. The teachers are extremely well versed yet patient and encouraging. My individual classes have lead me into new directions, and the regular classes have introduced new ways of thinking. All classes are recorded and can be accessed repeatedly.

I've been struggling with learning to play lead guitar for a long time and in the past my instructors would just teach what I wanted to learn instead of what I needed to know to be the player I want to be. While here at Guitar Zoom Academy I've learned to take my small wins as wins instead of getting frustrated with little progress, the instructors on Guitar Zoom encourages to accept the small wins as small wins and that with each small win you become more confident and slowly meeting your goals. After trying two different learning guitar programs that were self paced pre-recorded videos & PDF's, I found Guitar Zoom. I am so glad I joined this academy. Academy is an accurate description. You go into this academy with a questionnaire that will aide you and the academy on how to reach the goals you have for yourself. In this academy you will find yourself immersed with live help in Open Rooms M-Sat., tons of classroom videos and PDF's. You will get a personal instructor who measures your progress and gives you feedback. They even provide a practice log for you and your instructor to aide you in journey of learning. Well, first off they seem to care about my guitar learning. There are a number of ways that you can be a part of Guitar Zoom either through open rooms, meeting privately with your instructor watching numerous videos that have been posted or playing to the jam tracks. But they will tell you first and foremost you need to practice and they kind of hold you to the fire to make sure you’re getting your practice in. Everyone is positive. We go at our own pace and it’s just a really well thought out guitar course. Plus I love my instructor Pete who is patient and takes the time with me.

In my case, I am very independent and like to self explore. What works best is checking with me frequently how things are, offering assistance if and when needed and sometimes putting concrete goals to make sure I am on the right path and focused. This is what Viktor figured out quite quickly. He made sure I was engaged, filling my practice log and making progress. He then forced me to commit to some short term goals and explained the rationale behind them, which was exactly what I needed without even knowing I did. With just the right amount of theory and practicality, I’ve gained a lot through Viktor’s mentorship and I feel that I am making great progress towards where I want to be.

I would consider myself an intermediate player, who performs in various bands and local venues. However, I wanted to improve to the next level. Guitar Zoom Academy is all about the students and helping them (us) along our guitar journey. The instructors are top notch and offer expertise in all aspects of studying and learning of guitar. It fits every level of player, from beginner to advanced. Once admitted to the Academy, you'll meet with an instructor who will discuss what you want to get out of your personal journey. A Success Path will be developed and it will be discussed with you on Day One. This is not a one-way street. The instructors will guide you as much as you will let them. However, always remember, the more you put into doing the work, the more you will get out. There are classes and/or Open Rooms 2-3 times per day, every day except Sunday. I've found there is great comradery amongst the students and instructors and everyone has been welcoming to me. We lift each other up and it helps each of us with the confidence to play in front of people, though no one is forced to do it.

I'm inspired by Guitar Zoom Academy. I've made significant progress over the past eleven months. A lot of organizations and businesses often talk about being a "community," or worse: a "family." I've been a kibbutznik most of my adult life, and I know something about community. Most of the time, declarations like that are largely BS. But not where GZA is concerned. I've been playing guitar for years and never took time to really understand music and it's application to guitar. I think the Academy is awesome. I have learned a lot. The system is well thought out and all the resources are there to address all aspects of guitar and theory. The instructors are fantastic. I have been taking lessons with Guitar Zoom for 6 months and learned more than I learned in 2 years of private lessons. Well, I had not picked up a guitar for 2 1/2 yrs. Now I have played everyday since I joined except one. I have picked up a lot of theory. I had been playing a lot of it but did not know why other than it worked. So I now understand how and why it works. I have really stepped up my game using all the essentials needed to sound more bluesy, ie..using those bends, vibrato, slides, string skipping, mixing Maj. and minor, adding arpeggios, learning 3 note chords and using them, double stops ect. Eric has been great for me. I also hit as many classes as I can and open rooms. I learn alot there.

I've read online comments that describe Guitar Zoom Academy as just another source of guitar lessons. I'm here to tell you from personal experience that this is TOTALLY WRONG, and couldn't be further from the truth! GZA is a community of world-class instructors and students who come together each and every day to help one another become the best guitar players they can be. The video courses are great and even fun to watch, but having a personal instructor is fantastic. Guitar zoom has been a revelation for me, personally. I own a lot of their courses because their instructors make difficult subjects easier to understand, at your own pace. I have advanced more with Guitarzoom than I did with 20 years of playing alone, private lessons and watching thousands of videos that made no sense. I would gladly put my hand in pocket and buy more from Guitarzoom because I know what I am getting is quality tuition.

I have been playing guitar for 20 years, and in the last few years, I felt I had reached a glass ceiling, and wasn't making any progress with my instrument. I am a little over halfway thru the Play Guitar For Life program and feel that it definitely worth the money! While much of the first half has dealt with largely basic info (strumming patterns, chords, basic theory) I can say that I've learned bits of info that I had previously missed and am gaining a stronger overall understanding of the guitar. Been playing in and of for years never really got past or even got close to mastering pentatonic.. Kind of stuck with no map on where to go.. This first course has already had some eye opening insights..... I am in week 10 of this course and after 20 years of guitar playing my level of knowledge grow exponentially while taking this course. This music theory course contains an enormous amount of valuable information that Steve Stein, among other things makes this course a fun learning experience. With the information in this course and Steve’s teaching has expanded my understanding of the guitar and expanded my playing by not being boxed in by the “rules”. Thank you for the map to create a purposeful practice routine. I've been drowning in random information overload for about 5 years. I'm 62 years old and have had the desire to play guitar all my life. About 5 years ago I decide with today's technology it would be a great time to start. Since then, I've been overwhelmed in random information and online instructors.

Self taught, been playing for 48 years, I had an some idea of theroy, (keys, chords and such). This course made it so easy to understand how one action works with the next and that theroy is not something you have to spend hours on understanding just a few simple patterns and bam you can master theroy. I learnt to play a bit of guitar in my teens and then couldn't pursue playing for about 30 years. I came across Steve Stine and Guitar Zoom a couple of years back and it rekindled my pursuit of wanting to learn soloing. The Unlocking the Fretboard Connection course and Steve's teaching was a great place to start! It has taught me my way around the Pentatonic and Diatonic shapes and has made it easier now to learn the other courses that I have purchased from Guitar Zoom. If you want to get started with soloing, I couldn't recommend a better course or teacher!

Can't ask for a better blues course than this .This is one of the best clearly explained , understandable course. I have a ton of courses on my dash board wich all are amazing! It's a Rock-en course! Steve Stine has an awesome way of teaching that no one has. Steve has been around music all his life and plays incredibly and he has not forgotten how difficult it is as a beginner so i can see Steve makes an awesome effort to slowing down to show and explain in detail. You can understand Steve clearly and Steve just doesn't teach you one way, he lets you know that there is different ways of getting that sound. Thank you for asking. I am a returning guitar player after many years of raising children. I have been moving slowly as Steve puts it to know and understand. Today I actually made some pretty significant progress with the meandering while on vacation ( purchased a travel guitar for the trip). I just finished the fist section on "soloing" and have begun section two. I have found the videos great and all the addition resources like youtube very helpful. Course has been great. The way the course slowly builds and progresses from week to week has really helped me "connect the dots" or fretboard in this case. The fact that I can go back and brush up and review past weeks before proceeding is a huge benefit. It's not just about memorizing patterns, it's about understanding why and how they are generated. I was determined that when I learned to play the guitar (this time, after being away from it for 40 years), I'd actually take lessons, learn theory, and practice. The Beginner Acoustic course has been fantastic. I rate this course a solid “5”. Steve does an excellent job helping an intermediate level player who was terrified of soloing actually LEARN to do it the correct way, and how to build on my skills as they develop. The proof that Steve is an effective teacher is that I am now actually soloing! I'm enjoying the course so far. I'm a complete beginner to guitar so the ability to watch, pause, and loop videos to get the repetition that I need to master concepts is really important. The course is not laid out such that you have to have a linear progression to do well. You can pick up the basics of a concept and move on to another area and return when you are ready to master bits that were too difficult on the first pass. The downloadable jam tracks and tab book are also very helpful. The tab book is especially helpful as it includes charts to help master concepts of music theory. …

Incredibly detailed and thorough yet super easy to follow. I've learnt more through this than 10 years of noodling on my own. I'm now well versed in putting all the minor pentatonic and chromatic scales together, 6ths, 3rds, meandering. It's made an incredible difference to my playing from basically not being able to solo to blowing myself away with some of the tricks I now have in my arsenal. I had hit a plateau and this course has made playing fun and exciting again.

Purchased creative soloing about a month ago (my first from Steve), it's an incredibly well put together course, the great thing about it is, you actually discover what your not good at and Steve shows you numerous different ways to combat it, the wonderful thing about Steve's teaching method is he shows you your options but never ever says " you must do it this way. This course is helping me to see the repeating patterns on the fretboard more easily. Steve Stine makes understanding the materials so much easier than most other teachers. What a great corse. First of all it's like Steve is actually talking to you. He makes that connection. He starts the lick off very slowly and explains every step clearly. Then he plays the lick in at an intermediate speed. He then plays the lick and an incredibly fast pace. He often shows variations of how the lick connects to another lick or how the lick can be slightly changed. I got to hand it to Steve, this course has opened a door and expanded my possibilities. I've got a lot of guitar zoom courses , more than I'll probably ever need or watch lol....but this licks course is the meat and potatoes . Meaning I have creativity issues at times where I feel stale with the few licks I over use. That's when I pop in one of the 96 licks lessons and try something idk already, which is a mountain ha. Steves twaching is clear and to the point with all the nuances explained fully . And with the included PDF or printed out book like I have there's never a doubt as to how to play each riff..... …

Very impressed with this course. I've tried some other on line guitar courses and find these to be the best, hands down. I'll start by saying I rated myself as a high intermediate to early advanced player with a solid foundation in theory going in to this, and was a bit skeptical because of previous experience being disappointedwith on line courses. Ok, a little background. I got my first guitar about 40 years ago. I took a few lessons and found out I just hadn't gotten any better after six months or so, and put the guitar in the closet. I am in the middle of Blues Guitar course now and loving it. It is amazing how Steve Stine is able to transmit his knowledge in an easy to understand way. What I like in this curse is that I can go through the theory behind but in parallel immediately start to improve my skills with the solos and other materials that comes with. Also, Steve has many tricks that give us a short cut to learn (for example on how to memorize the notes on each string). I do recommend this course.

First of all the Blues Guitar course is very thorough, from the basic things such as strum patterns and learning notes on different strings, through to chord chasing, using hybrid scales and building licks by combining different embellishments such as slides, bends, hammer-ons etc. Steve is a good teacher because he has a feel for the things that many find hard to grasp, so takes the time to cover them from different angles. There is a wealth of very useful material in this course that continues to be a reference source for me. …

Highly recommended. I had been tinkering for years and could play chords and pieces of songs. This course opened up my ability to pick up my guitar, jam in 12-bar blues, play in any key, and allowed me to create new music easily. It is great for beginners, which means some skipping if you have experience. It was exactly what I needed to start creating my own music and my own style.

Loved this course. Really helped me step up my game. I feel confident if I ever stumble upon a blues jam or another musician that I can now actually string together a bit of a blues fill or even solo. I felt this course really compliments play blues guitar for life, which provided a solid foundation but was far more focused on the rhythm portion. I feel like from blues licks, I got the essential in the main course and have confidence that I know how to combine, move, and modify licks as needed, and still have WAY more to explore in the modern blues section which I have barely touched. I am a beginner who has been struggling with basic open chord changes for years. Having something other than my left hand fingering to concentrate on has really helped and given the me ability to make something that sounds like music for the first time. How much can I add to what's been written? Here's the short version: this course is a MUST HAVE! It is very aptly named, "Unlocking the Fretboard Connection," because that is exactly what it does. It goes through the pentatonic scales and shows how they are connected along the fretboard, then it explains diatonic scales and how they are related to pentatonic, and boom, the mystery of the fretboard is unlocked. If you are a beginner or have simply never studied the fretboard (like me), then again, this is a no-questions must have! Thanks Steve!!

This understanding really opened up the fret board for me both in chords and scales. I would say that this is the most important thing to know for playing guitar and becoming more creative. I spend way less time playing “cowboy” chords and more time up the neck with more interesting chords and licks. Definitely worth the money and time!

Steve does an excellent job of taking you from start to actually playing. After 40+ years, I decided to once again pick up the guitar. It was a bit intimidating at first, but Steve's platform helps you to understand all those things you did not understand when you were younger. Very well explained especially between minor and major pentatonic. Which I have struggled with terribly. So much so for years I’ve said screw it I’ll just play the major diatonic scale.
